100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups - #30: It wasn’t my fault

“I just don’t understand.” whispered the tall pale man.

“You’ve never been wrong before. Every time I’ve sought your guidance in the good times and the bad you’ve been the only one I could trust, the only one who could see how things would turn out.” His voice barely raised above a desperate rasp as he glared at her.
“You said if I took strong decisive action a great business would fall.”
She was serene. She spoke, softly.
“I am never wrong. You did, and it did. But you assumed the fall would be ABN’s. It wasn’t my fault, Fred.”
